Equipment progression in AION 2 is not based on one upgrade button. Several systems work together, and investing in the wrong piece too early can waste a large amount of materials and Kinah.
For new players, the easiest way to understand gear progression is to treat it as a sequence:
Enhancement → Breakthrough → Manastones and Spiritstones → Godstones → Soul Imprinting
You do not need to maximize every system at the same time. The goal is to build a solid foundation first and then spend resources on the systems that provide the biggest improvement.
Start With Basic Enhancement
Enhancement is the foundation of equipment progression. It increases the core stats of a piece of gear and should normally be your first investment.
Weapons deserve special attention because increasing their offensive power has a direct effect on your damage. For tanks and other defensive builds, important armor pieces should also be kept reasonably upgraded.
A simple early-game priority is:
Main weapon
Main defensive or class-defining equipment
Other armor pieces
Accessories
Do not immediately push every temporary item as high as possible. If you know that a piece will soon be replaced, save your enhancement materials and Aion 2 Kinah for equipment that you expect to keep.
When to Use Breakthrough
Breakthrough becomes relevant after equipment reaches its normal enhancement limit and is available for suitable higher-grade gear.
This is where players should stop treating every upgrade equally. Breakthrough materials and currency are more valuable, so the first target should usually be the equipment that gives the greatest benefit to your build.
For a damage dealer, the weapon is normally an obvious priority. For other classes, the best target can depend on whether the build needs more damage, survivability, or another important stat.
Before attempting a breakthrough, ask:
Is this equipment part of my long-term setup?
Is the next upgrade meaningful?
Will I replace this item soon?
Do I have enough resources for the rest of my gear?
If the answer to the first question is no, wait.
Manastones and Spiritstones
After the basic enhancement level is in a good place, start working on your socketed stones.
Manastones and Spiritstones add additional stats to equipment. Manastones are associated with weapons and armor, while Spiritstones are used with accessories.
Do not fill every socket with expensive stones immediately.
A better approach is to first identify the stats your class actually needs. A DPS build may want offensive options, while a tank or support build may value defensive or utility-focused stats.
The important thing is to avoid spending heavily on a temporary item. Socket investments can become inefficient when the equipment is replaced.
Godstones: Add Them After Your Core Gear Is Stable
Godstones provide additional combat effects and are particularly important for weapons. Their value depends on the effect and the content you are playing.
For general progression, a useful Godstone can be a nice upgrade, but it should not come before fixing major weaknesses in your equipment.
Think of Godstones as an additional layer rather than the foundation of your build.
A practical order is:
Good weapon → strong enhancement → suitable stones → useful Godstone
Do not constantly replace a Godstone just because another effect looks interesting. Choose one that matches your class and the type of content you actually play.
Soul Imprinting Should Be Planned
Soul Imprinting is one of the deeper parts of AION 2’s gear system because it can add additional options to equipment.
This is also where random results can make players spend far more resources than expected.
For most characters, prioritize your most important equipment first. Weapons and guards generally deserve early attention because their offensive options can have a noticeable impact on overall performance.
A reasonable priority is:
Weapon
Guard or main class-specific equipment
Armor
Accessories
For offensive builds, look for useful combinations involving Power, Accuracy, Combat Speed, and damage-related options. Defensive classes should instead prioritize options that support their survival and role.
Do Not Chase Perfect Rolls Too Early
One of the easiest mistakes is trying to create perfect equipment before the rest of the character is ready.
A decent Soul Imprint on a strong weapon is usually more useful than spending huge amounts trying to perfect an old weapon that will soon be replaced.
The same applies when browsing Aion 2 Items for sale. A higher-grade item is not automatically a good investment if its stats do not fit your build or if you are already close to replacing that equipment.
Focus on useful upgrades rather than perfect screenshots.
Recommended Upgrade Order
For most players progressing through PvE, this simple order works well:
- Step 1: Enhance your main weapon and important gear.
- Step 2: Push long-term equipment toward its breakthrough stage.
- Step 3: Add useful Manastones and Spiritstones.
- Step 4: Select a suitable Godstone for your weapon.
- Step 5: Start serious Soul Imprinting on permanent gear.
- Step 6: Improve individual options as your resource income increases.
This order keeps expensive systems from consuming resources before your basic gear is ready.
AION 2’s equipment system rewards patience. Enhancement gives you the foundation, breakthrough pushes important gear further, stones fill out your stats, Godstones add combat effects, and Soul Imprinting provides another layer of customization.
You do not need every system at maximum immediately. Build around your best permanent equipment, prioritize your weapon and role-defining gear, and only chase expensive upgrades when the rest of your character can support the investment.
